This is the absolute best Chinese restaurant in the Scranton/Wilkes Barre area. (And, believe me, we have tried them all). Since moving here three years ago, we have visited this establishment at least twenty times. Each and every single time, the food was absolute perfection. Moreover, they can modify every item to accommodate vegetarians or those with dietary restrictions. Not only did I enjoy everything they have ever made me (and I am a demanding person), but the staff is simply phenomenal! They are always warm and polite, attentive but not smothering, willing to please but not pushy, and they are grace under fire. One time (last summer), there was a brief power outage and they calmly ensured that everyone was okay and just kept working. The staff and owners truly care about their customers. Moreover, the restaurant is always immaculately tidy. And, the food is the best ... bar none! Skip Red Robin and Panera this week ... come here instead!

While on the road, I rely a great deal on yelp. This place had some of the most glowing and spectacular reviews I had ever read, with exemplary words like "the best ever", and causing interstate dreams of craving. I thought perhaps these reviews had been bought. Went here anyway, hoping for great, but open minded. The food was a solid average, in my estimation, but my sister thought it deserved 4 stars. If I could have rated it 3.5 that would be perfect. It's a very old fashioned place -- lunch special just under $7, selection of traditional entrees that all come with fried rice and choice of soup ( wonton, egg drop, hot n sour). With all those folks raving about chicken & broccoli, thought I would try something of that ilk. Got beef & broccoli, sis got diced chicken & shrimp. They bring tea, duck sauce & thick fried chow mein noodles to nosh on. Service prompt, and polite. Bathrooms very clean. Nice Chinese soft / lite pop music playing - the staff all Chinese. The food however, not as authentic - very deeply set in the Chinese American tradition. Meat is heavily dipped in corn starch before fried in wok, or coated in breading before deep fat fried. Soup good but not stellar, it was adequate, fine. Main course was tasty and fresh, my beef had a very nice garlic taste in the brown sauce, broccoli fresh. The fried rice however very dry, the peas especially old & mealy -- as if it had been prepared long before and reheated. My sis was well pleased, but my tummy sore - too much msg? Sodium? It tasted good, and was hot, cooked to order-- and my bar pretty low for a Scranton , PA suburban resto in a strip mall. We live in NYC where great Chinese food abounds. For this price in NYC, our lunch would have been a Steal and the quality good enough to do well - but it is by no means the best, most amazing, dream worthy Chinese food in the country. It's a bit tough to find, by the way -- it's behind the community bank, across the highway from the huge Home Depot.

Yum!!! This Chinese restaurant is seriously so good. From the friendly atmosphere & wait staff to the delicious, perfectly cooked food, this place is a real winner. If you're ever in the area, this place is the way to go. They have take out as well as a huge dining area (with booths) that allow you to eat out.

By far the best Chinese food place in the Scranton and surrounding areas! I've been ordering from here for over 20 years and can honestly say I've never had one bad experience. They have the best quality, menu selection, and flavor of any Chinese restaurant. Their menu offers some different dishes than their competitors. They're always friendly when I call or stop in, and NEVER screw up an order! It's always great whether you eat in or take out. If you eat in they give you a nice tea as well as some crunchy noodles with a sweet sauce for dipping- completely complimentary. Consistently perfect!

In town for a few days from California. Decided to get some take out for dinner and tried China Palace. Was not disappointed!!! So delicious! I got the broccoli chicken and a side of hot and sour soup. Was hot, fresh and really tasty! Can't say enough good stuff. Really really good! Will go back before I head back home :)

I am writing this review from Colorado. I've been traveling for the past two years for work, and I cannot find chicken and broccoli as good as this. Right now I have a Chinese food craving, and I refuse to order anything here because once you have had the chicken and broccoli here, it changes you. Every time I order from some other place, I find myself saying "What's the point?" So please, eat here, and cherish it. Because you never know what you had until it's gone.

1/18/2015- we are visiting for the weekend. just tried this place based on the rave reviews. As we entered we noted that the place is under new ownership. The service was spot on and the food was decent. No complaints, just not exemplary . I got the chicken and broccoli. The smaller portion came with white sauce ( garlic and cream). It sounded as though the larger portion would have come with a different sauce. My friend got a brown sauce on his meal that was very tasty so I'd try that combo if I came again.

Yum. I have stopped twice for lunch when I was in the area. Great lunch special. Soup and meal for 6.95. Very fresh food. Great service. I Will Be back. Shrimp and broccoli was fantastic. Fried rice was loght, not yellow and greasy as many places are.

I have to say this is the best American-Style(meaning Chicken and Broccoli, General Tso's) Chinese food I have ever had...and I have had Chinese food in most European countries(including London's Chinatown) as well as Toronto, and New York. It is a little bit more costly than other places but it is well worth it. No buffet here, everything is ordered off of the menu and everything is made fresh for you. Take out is good, but this place is best when dining in. The atmosphere is very nice and even slightly romantic, as it is dimly lit.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
